How does the Anytime Pharmacy service work?

Step 1:             Register online and complete the free online medical questionnaire consultation. A doctor will review your questionnaire and, if it is safe to do so, approve you for treatment. You do not pay for your doctor consultation.
Step 2: If you are approved for treatment you will be sent a text message asking you to log back into your secure patient record. You can pay for your oral contraceptive pills using a debit or credit card.
Step 3: You will be sent a FREE SMS (text message) when a doctor has sent your prescription to your nominated pharmacy. We advise you to call your nominated pharmacy to check your prescription is ready, then collect your medicine.

Why are no prices shown for Anytime Pharmacy treatment services?

Under current UK advertising law we cannot show you prescription-only-medicine (POM) prices prior to a medical consultation with a registered doctor. Once your doctor has approved you for treatment all prices are clearly displayed. Your registration and medical consultation is free and you are under no obligation to purchase any treatment.

All of our prices are fully inclusive, and so for prescription medicines the prices include the cost of the consultation, the issuing of a private prescription, and dispensing of the medicine itself. There are no hidden extras.

How will your doctor know which contraceptive pill you want?

During the online medical questionnaire you will be asked the name of your current contraceptive pill or the pill you have taken in the past. We will provide you with a list of the most common contraceptive pills used in the UK. Your doctor can prescribe all combined and mini-pills that are commonly used in the UK. Your doctor will not prescribe you any contraceptive pills that are not licensed in the UK.

What are the potential side-effects (contraindications) from your oral contraceptive pill?

All medication can cause side effects. The oral contraceptive pill can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or an allergic rash. Very rarely the oral contraceptive pill can cause blood clots in the legs or lungs, raised blood pressure and it can increase your risk of breast cancer.

When answering your medical questionnaire for the contraceptive pill it is very important that you answer the questions truthfully to ensure your doctor has a full picture of your medical history before they prescribe you the pill.

How effective is the contraceptive pill?

The contraceptive pill is over 99% effective if taken as instructed.

Who should not use this particular contraceptive pill service?

You should not use this service if:

1. You are pregnant

2. You have been told in the past that you should not take the contraceptive pill

3. You are under 18 years old

Looking after your contraceptive pill:

This medicine is for YOU only. Do not give it to others. It may not suit them.

Do not take this medicine after the expiry date stamped on the pack.

Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.

Can I get a repeat prescription?

Your doctor can offer you ongoing prescriptions. After your initial three month medication, you can request a further prescription but you must have your blood pressure checked before requesting another prescription. Your doctor needs to be sure that your contraceptive pill hasn't raised your blood pressure. You do not need to visit a doctor; most pharmacies will check your blood pressure for free.
